Walt Disney World is a magical place full of thrilling rides, delicious food, and endless entertainment. One of the many things that makes this popular tourist destination so amazing is the various transportation options available for guests. You can use these even if you’re not staying in a hotel on property. They’re available if you’re looking to grab a bite at an area resort or to park hop. For folks staying on property, they’re a free and easy way to get around. This is a great way to avoid rending a car on vacation. All of our friends who are Disney Regulars, feel free to share your favorite mode of Disney Transportation down below!

Let’s explore some of the fantastic ways to get around Disney World!
- Monorail – The monorail system is an iconic Disney transportation option. It runs on a track to the Magic Kingdom area resorts. It also extends to Epcot. The sleek, futuristic design of the monorail will have you feeling like you’re in a sci-fi movie. It’s the perfect option for guests who want to experience a unique form of transportation. You can also get some incredible views of the park.
- Bus – Disney buses run frequently and can take you anywhere within the resort, including theme parks, water parks, and hotels. These comfortable buses are air-conditioned, making them an excellent choice for guests who want to beat the heat. It’s also a perfect option for families who want to get to the parks without worrying about parking or walking long distances.
- Boat – Guests can also take a leisurely ride on the water by using Disney World’s boat transportation system. The boats are free to use and connect the various resorts and theme parks. This is an excellent option for guests who want to add a little adventure to their Disney vacation.
If you stay at the Boardwalk, WDW Swan, WDW Dolphin, Yacht Club, or Beach Club you can take the Friendship Boats to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.
When you park at the Ticket and Transportation Center you can take a ferry boat to Magic Kingdom.
From Wilderness Lodge there’s a boat direct to Magic Kingdom as well! When you stay at Port Orleans, there are boats to Disney Springs. These boats are a great way to go out on a dinner date in Springs! - Minnie Van – One of the newest Disney transportation options available in Walt Disney World is the Minnie Van. These adorable vans are decorated with polka dots and take guests to and from any location on the resort property. They are an excellent choice for families with young children. They also help guests with mobility issues who need a little extra assistance getting around. You can order a Minnie Van in the Lyft app while you’re on WDW property.
- Skyliner – Our favorite Disney transportation is easily the Skyliner. Connecting Epcot and Hollywood Studios to a handful of resorts this Gondola System is reliable and fun. I recommend avoiding the Skyliner if you’re afraid of heights or if it’s raining. Though, in most circumstances, it’s worth a try! For anyone who is hesitant of germs, it also offers a unique benefit. One gondola typically holds 1 party at a time.
- Walking – Sometimes, the best Disney transportation option is the most simple one: walking. Disney World is massive. However, it has well-marked paths and beautiful landscaping. Walking around the parks and resorts can be a great way to experience the magic of Disney. It’s also a good choice for guests who want to burn off some of the delicious treats they’ve indulged in.
You can walk to the parks from the following resorts:
Magic Kingdom:
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
EPCOT:
- Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Villas
- Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Villas
- Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
- Walt Disney World Swan Resort
- Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort
Bonus, Disney Springs:

Walt Disney World offers a wide range of transportation options for guests to choose from. Whether you prefer the sleek and modern monorail or a leisurely boat ride, there’s something for everyone.
