Universal Studios is officially bringing the “ogre-sized” fun to Texas, and if you’ve got little ones in tow, your 2026 travel planning just got a whole lot more exciting!

As a universal studios travel agent and a parent, I am always on the lookout for destinations that make theme park magic accessible for every walk of life—especially the smallest members of our families. Universal Destinations & Experiences just dropped a massive update on Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, and it’s looking like a total game-changer for the preschool and elementary crowd.

The Lands We Can’t Wait to Explore

Universal isn’t just scaling down their big coasters; they are building entirely immersive worlds from the ground up through a child’s lens. When you book through universal travel agents, we help you navigate these seven themed lands so you don’t miss a single “first” for your kiddos:

• Shrek’s Swamp: You’ll finally be able to step into the onion carriage and meet Shrek and Fiona! Plus, there are interactive play areas like Shrek’s Swamp Rompin’ Stomp for those who need to burn off some ogre energy.
• Bikini Bottom: If your house sounds like a SpongeBob marathon, this is for you. We’re getting the Jellyfish Fields Jamboree (a bouncing attraction) and plenty of “nautical nonsense.”
• Jurassic World Adventure Camp: This is the perfect “starter” Jurassic experience. Think less Indominus Rex chase and more meeting baby dinosaurs and climbing the Lookout Towers.
• TrollsFest: This is going to be the most vibrant spot in the park. Between the King Trollex Techno Dance Party and a “Troll-ify Me” makeover station, it’s basically a glitter-filled dream.
• Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club: Expect lots of water-soaked fun as the Yellow and Purple Minions face off.
• Puss in Boots Del Mar: A charming village area featuring carnival games and a silly puppet performance.
• Isle of Curiosity: This acts as the park’s gateway and features a Gabby’s Cat-Tastic Dance Party with Gabby herself!

A Resort Built for Real Families

One thing I absolutely love is how they are handling the Universal Kids Hotel. As a universal studios travel agent who advocates for “pooh-sized” comfort and family accessibility; these rooms are designed to sleep up to five or six guests is a huge win. The suites will even feature separate bedrooms and bunk beds—because we all know a good night’s sleep is the secret ingredient to a successful park day!

What makes me most excited about this project is the focus on sensory gardens and “pause and reset” zones. Theme parks can be overwhelming for little ones (and grown-ups!), so having dedicated spaces to decompress shows that Universal is really listening to what families need.
