Although the Yacht Club Resort is known to be an expensive hotel, the Ale & Compass Restaurant offers very affordable meals at a luxury location. Located in the lobby area, it’s directly across from the lighthouse and commuter boats to nearby resorts, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. It’s a prime location for breakfast, lunch, or dinner with a nearby stroll on the boardwalk waiting for you.
Vibes
Instagramable

3/5 – The interior is quite fetching but minimal with decorations. If anything, it offers a clean look to your photos if you don’t mind pictures of locations without themes. Better to save the photos for the food and when you go outside.
Family friendly
4/5 – While the interior is rather stoic, there are many food options for different ages and palettes despite being the average plates. I went for lunch with my family (three adults) and found a very good variety. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant if you want something adventurous or kid themed to entertain the little ones. However, if you are staying near this location or want to eat at a resort, it’s a good standard spot that is open at all times.
Date friendly
5/5 – This is a very nice, date friendly place. For lunch, it’s quiet with plenty of seating and nice views of the boardwalk. The location on the boardwalk, as well, gives this restaurant extra points for love birds wanting something else to do before or after their meals.
Service
5/5 – Exceptional service here. I found the waitress who was serving us very calm and pleasant to match the atmosphere. She also knew the menu quite well in order to give suggestions.

Flavor
3/5 – The flavor is to be expected for the standard options given here, but the variety of sauces can make a somewhat standard dish better; however, it does vary on what you order. I had the sustainable fish tacos that came with salsa but a nice chipotle remoulade that made the fish stand out. The burger my father got was cooked exactly as he liked it, and the cheese was well selected. The tartar sauce that came with the fish and chips my mother got was nice, but as expected with fish and chips.
Cost Vs. Portion
4/5 – It’s not a bargain restaurant, but for a good meal, you also get a decent price especially at a luxury resort restaurant. You may pay a little more than you would like ($23 for the burger plate, as shown, when it could cost a few dollars less), but the portion sizes are just right.
Quality
4/5 – For the meals ordered, I say that the quality is slightly above park food. It would be nice to see a restaurant at the Yacht Club have a few more options.
Bravery
5/5 – I think most people would come here as an agreeable choice if you have a large group or have picky eaters in your party.
Would I recommend eating here?
Short answer? Yes.
Long answer? If you want to have standard American fare for a meal during your trip in-between anything adventurous, Ale & Compass is a good choice. It’s a good date location, a decent family spot, and a good place to go for lunch.
